Manthai thidal is a centre where the Mariammankoil is situated and all political meetings takes place. Local youths used it for playing kabbadi(chadugudu)foot ball and other games. Theemithi thiruvizha takes place there. On Mattupongal day all bullock carts assemble there and after festival driven at high speed to their residences after making a circle. It used to be a time of high enjoyment.

I am remembered of my younger days in the Agraharam(present Raja veedhi).I used to play chadugudu (present day Kabbadi) with my friends. I am still remembering
my father,s friends VS Shabuddin, OM Ibrahim, MM Easabai and sevaral others. When Ambagarathur was a french territory Frenchmen used to visit our village and will have coffee prepared at our house. A lovely village. Our house was having entrance at Agraharam and rear entry in the main road. After seeing this web site I was thrilled. Very Best wishes to all,

There is a 900 year old Badrakaliamman Temple in the western end of Ambakarathur.Very eminent persons were there. n There is a Mariamman Temple in Mandakarai. A ten day festival is being celebrated for time immemorial. Several persons in Muslim community also very happily participating in the function. There was a big Agraharam where 96 Brahmin houses were there. In course of time every left to urban areas in search of job. There is a shiva temple, a perumal temple administered by Badrakali temple. The whole agraharam has become muslim street. I am really of my village where I have some friends till to day. I wish all Ambagarathurians ALL THE BEST.

I was born and brought up in Ambagarathur.in Agraharam(now Raja veedhi) The important land mark for Ambagarathur is the Badrakaaliamman Kovil which is now
well known to all Tamilians settled or working worldwide. I still have some records about my grand father who was Treasurer of the temple in late 1800s.
It was place for unity between Muslims and Hindus. For generations my forefathers to me lived in that village which I cannot forget. When I saw this web site I became emotional and the period of living there came to my mind.
With grate happiness I wish to record that My son Balaji (Ph.D) a Professor in an American University(who also lived in Ambagarathur up to 10 year) has invented a NANO BOMB to replace Chemotherapy in the treatment of Cancer
for which he was interviewed by SUN TV and telecast for two days in 2006.
I am visiting Ambagarathur almost every year.
